Uganda U20 Women’s Rugby Team Faces Tough International Debut

The Uganda U20 Women’s Rugby team has concluded their inaugural participation in the U20 African Series with two losses.

Despite valiant efforts, the Lady Cranes were unable to secure a victory in their matches against Tunisia and South Africa.

In their opening match against Tunisia, the Ugandan team displayed impressive resilience, scoring two tries in the final ten minutes.

However, they ultimately fell short, losing 17-14. The Lady Cranes’ spirited performance showcased their potential and determination, despite the setback.

The second match against South Africa proved to be a more challenging affair. The Ugandan team faced a dominant South African side and were unable to match their opponents’ intensity.

The Junior Springboks secured a comfortable 35-03 victory, with Uganda’s only points coming from a penalty by Bushira Namutebi.

While the results may not have been in their favor, the Uganda U20 Women’s Rugby team gained valuable experience and exposure to international competition.

The tournament served as a stepping stone for the development of young female rugby athletes in Uganda, and the team’s performance has undoubtedly inspired future generations.

As the Lady Cranes return home, they will undoubtedly use the lessons learned from this tournament to continue their growth and strive for greater success in future competitions.
