Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper, André Onana, has pledged to return to Uganda and spend more time with the fans who have shown him overwhelming support during his visits.

Speaking to the media on Monday, the 28-year-old expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from Ugandan Manchester United supporters and acknowledged the global reach of the club.

“I am truly grateful for the love that Manchester United fans in Uganda have shown me,” Onana said.

“This reflects how big the club I play for is on a global scale.”

“I promise to return, hopefully in the summer, to spend more time in Uganda and do some amazing things together.”

Onana first visited Uganda in October when Cameroon played out a goalless draw against Zimbabwe.

During that visit, Ugandan fans turned out in large numbers to support the Cameroonian star.

Although his recent match against Kenya was played behind closed doors, Onana remains appreciative of the support.

The match saw Cameroon edge out Kenya 1-0, thanks to Boris Enow’s 63rd-minute goal, securing their spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Onana was instrumental in the team’s success, helping Cameroon top Group J with 10 points after four games.

Despite the restrictions this time around, Onana expressed his excitement about returning in the future and building a stronger connection with Ugandan fans.
