The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach, is set to make a farewell visit to Uganda from October 22-24, 2024.
His visit to Uganda is part of a broader tour of five African countries – Senegal, South Africa, Lesotho, Uganda, and Rwanda – as he concludes his tenure as IOC President.
While in Uganda, President Bach is scheduled to meet with athletes, Olympians, sports leaders, and senior government officials.
He will also visit the Game Connect Project, a sports initiative funded by the Olympic Refugee Foundation.
The Game Connect Project aims to provide refugees and other displaced people with the opportunity to participate in sporting activities.
This project aligns with the IOC’s commitment to using sports as a tool for social inclusion and development.
President Bach’s visit to Uganda is expected to further strengthen the country’s ties with the Olympic Movement and highlight the positive impact of sports on communities.
