Uganda Premier League Wednesday fixtures
Lugazi FC vs Mable Heroes – Lugazi
Police FC vs Express FC – Kavumba
The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns after the international break with two fixtures on schedule this Wednesday.
At Kavumba, former champions Police and Express clash with either aiming to build on their impressive showings before the break.
Police beat Kitara in Hoima for their first three points of the season while the Red Eagles stunned high flying NEC at Nakivubo.
With 7 points at this point, a win will see Express go joint top with KCCA who host UPDF FC on Saturday.
Unbeaten Police will move within a point of leaders if they stun Baker Mbowa’s men. At Najjembe, two newly promoted sides in Lugazi and Mbale Heroes face off.
The eyes will be both managers in the dugout with Sadiq Ssempigi seeking to pick the club’s first premier league win while new Asaph Mwebaze will seek a reaction from the Surgeons after a 4-1 defeat to URA in their last outing.
Mwebaze will be in charge of his game with the side he rejoined two days ago after leaving in April this year.
“Yes, I am back at Mbale Heroes and I look forward to the best. There were issues but we learn from challenges, I believe there were lessons and we can move forward,” Mwebaze told NBS Sport.
For Sempigi, the game comes as a test of character.
“We have made a lot of mistakes but we have worked on them. If the players give their best, we shall win. The international break has given us a breather and we must make good of it,” he noted.
Mbale Heroes are 13th on the log with three points after the four games while Lugazi FC sit bottom with just a point.
