The English Football Association (FA) is set to officially announce the appointment of former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel as the new head coach of the England men’s national team.
Tuchel, a renowned tactician with a proven track record of success in European football, will take over the reins from interim manager Lee Carsley following the conclusion of England’s Nations League campaign in November.
The German manager’s primary objective will be to guide the Three Lions through qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The FA’s decision to appoint Tuchel comes after an extensive search process that saw several high-profile candidates considered for the role.
While Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola was reportedly approached, it was Tuchel’s experience and tactical acumen that ultimately swayed the FA in his favor.
Tuchel’s familiarity with English football, having previously managed Chelsea from January 2021 to September 2022, was also a key factor in his appointment.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, the 51-year-old led the Blues to the Champions League title, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
Despite his recent departure from Bayern Munich following a disappointing season, Tuchel’s reputation as a demanding and successful manager remains intact.
His previous stints at Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain also saw him achieve significant success, winning multiple domestic titles and reaching the latter stages of European competitions.
