Nigeria kicked off their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup campaign with a resounding 4-1 victory over New Zealand on Wednesday, October 17th.
The Flamingos showcased their dominance from the outset, controlling the match and converting their chances efficiently.
The Nigerian attack, led by Abidemi Moshood, Taiwo Adegoke, and Opeyemi Abdulwahab, proved to be a formidable force.
Moshood opened the scoring in the second minute, finishing off a quick team move. Adegoke followed suit in the 13th minute with a powerful strike, extending Nigeria’s lead.
Abdulwahab added a third goal before halftime, capitalizing on a well-placed cross.
In the second half, Taiwo Afolabi further cemented Nigeria’s victory with a goal in the 55th minute.
Although New Zealand managed to pull one back through Aimee Saxon, Nigeria’s dominance was evident throughout the match.
