West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has vehemently denied charges of deliberately receiving yellow cards for betting purposes.
In a statement released on his social media channels, Paqueta slammed recent reports about his case as “entirely false” and “designed to undermine my position.”
He further expressed concern that confidential information seems to be leaking from “an individual close to the case.”
The FA charged Paqueta in May 2024 for four separate alleged offences, spanning matches from November 2022 to August 2023.
The governing body claims he sought yellow cards “for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market.”
Paqueta maintains his innocence and has requested the FA to investigate the alleged leaks.
He stated, “The continued leaking and publication of inaccurate information… is putting at risk my chance of receiving a fair hearing.”
