FUFA President Moses Magogo has spoken out regarding the gate congestion issues faced by fans during the games the Uganda Cranes have hosted at Namboole Stadium so far.
Magogo acknowledged FUFA have received complaints regarding the Southern and Northern gates specifically, where frustrated fans forced their way in due to delays in the ticket verification system.
“We have heard people talk of the congestion at the gates. Some of these challenges are infrastructural challenges, but we are talking to the government and Mandela National Stadium on probable solutions,” Magogo stated.
He assured fans that efforts are underway to prevent a repeat of the incident. “We hope by the time we host the next game, it will be an improved experience.”
The issue of crowd management has been an issue at the games hosted at Namboole so far and according to CK Sports, Africa’s football governing body, CAF has sought explanations from security officers for their failure to control crowds at the entrances.
According to a report from CK Sports, this is the second time CAF has raised concerns over gate management during the ongoing AFCON qualifiers, following a similar incident during Uganda’s match against Congo Brazzaville.
A related inquiry was also made by CAF after Uganda’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Algeria.
