Uganda Sends Delegation to ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024

A contingent of 94 Ugandan athletes and officials was officially flagged off on Monday afternoon to represent the country at the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024.

The Ugandan delegation, led by USSSA President Justus Mugisha, includes representatives from six schools: Mbogo Mixed SS, Mbogo High School, Mbogo College School, Rubaga Girls’ School, Kibuli SS, and Seroma Christian High School.

The team will compete in swimming, basketball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, and athletics.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya, urged the athletes to represent Uganda with pride and dedication.

“You are traveling to Bahrain as Team Uganda, not as individuals. Therefore, make sure you represent us to your very best,” he said.

Hajji Twahil Kiteezaala, USSSA’s 1st Vice President, emphasized the importance of discipline and a winning mentality for the athletes.

“This is a different stage for you, representing Uganda. It imposes different obligations, and the key is discipline. On top of that, you must have that winning mentality,” he remarked.

The Ugandan contingent will depart for Bahrain on Tuesday October 22nd and is expected to return on November 1st.
