The Uganda Cranes’ crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against South Africa has been officially confirmed for Friday, November 15, 2024.
The match will kick off at 4:00 PM East Africa Time (EAT) at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, according to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
This game is pivotal for Uganda, as the Cranes need just one point from their remaining two matches to secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
Uganda currently tops Group K with 10 points, having secured back-to-back victories over South Sudan in the previous international window.
The fixture against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana is expected to be a highly anticipated encounter, with the Cranes looking to capitalize on home advantage and seal their place in the continental competition.
Uganda will rely on the momentum from their recent performances, which have been buoyed by the support of fans at home and abroad.
Paul Put, head coach of Uganda Cranes, has urged supporters to turn out in large numbers to cheer the team on as they aim to complete their qualification mission.
In a statement following the victories over South Sudan, Put emphasized the importance of fan support for the remaining matches.
“The journey is not complete yet as we have another set of matches against South Africa and Congo next month,” Put said. “Let us be there in big numbers again. See you in November.”
The November 15 fixture is expected to draw significant attention, as both Uganda and South Africa look to bolster their qualification chances in the penultimate match of the group stage.
