Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has dismissed comments made by Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta following the Magpies’ 1-0 victory at St James’ Park.
Arteta had suggested that Newcastle’s style of play had forced Arsenal into a game they didn’t want to play.
However, Howe was dismissive of the criticism, stating that it was irrelevant and that Newcastle would continue to focus on their own game plan.
“It’s irrelevant to me what anyone says really apart from my team and that’s how we’ve always looked at it,” Howe said.
“There’s always outside noise, wherever it comes from. So, we just try to do what we do to try and win games on a consistent basis,” he added.
The victory over Arsenal was a significant one for Newcastle, who have been in impressive form in recent weeks.
The win moved them up to mid-table in the Premier League and further dented Arsenal’s title hopes.
