After securing the first-ever Finance Trust Bank Women Super League (FTBWSL) monthly awards, Kawempe Muslim’s coach Ayub Khalifa and goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya are committed to keeping their team’s winning spirit alive.
Both were awarded Coach and Player of the Month for October during a ceremony held at Finance Trust Bank’s offices in Kampala.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and discipline of the entire team. We’ve set the standard high, and our goal is to keep raising it,” Khalifa said.
“The Women’s League is becoming increasingly competitive, but we’re determined to maintain momentum and prove that Kawempe Muslim is here to dominate.”
Kawempe faced a challenging start to November, managing a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Amus College, with Nambuya conceding her first goal of the season.
“Winning this award fuels my drive to keep pushing,” Nambuya shared.
“The clean sheets are a team effort. I know I won’t be able to keep a clean sheet in every game, but we’re focused and hungry for more. Our response will be positive in the next match.”
Nambuya edged out competition from teammates and league top scorer Agnes Nabukenya and Uganda Martyrs’ Angel Kigongo.
While Khalifa topped Amus College’s Faridah Bulega and Lady Doves’ Meddy Nyanzi to claim his award.
Kawempe, now unbeaten and leading the standings with 13 points, will host Lady Doves on Sunday.
Both Khalifa and Nambuya received plaques and a cash prize of UGX 500,000 from Finance Trust Bank.
