Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to adapt to the new playing style under incoming manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim, who is set to take the reins at Old Trafford next week, is renowned for his tactical acumen and preference for a 3-4-3 formation.
While this differs from the 4-2-3-1 system employed by former manager Erik ten Hag, Onana believes the squad’s versatility will ensure a smooth transition.
“I did watch Sporting’s 4-1 win over Manchester City,” Onana said. “It was a great victory. Different system, but my teammates are all pragmatic. Everyone here is capable of playing in each system, I don’t think it will be an issue for us. We have big players, and they will step up.”
The Cameroonian shot-stopper also reflected on Ten Hag’s departure, acknowledging the challenges faced by the Dutch manager during his tenure.
“When I heard he was leaving, obviously I felt bad,” Onana added. “At the end of the day, the club makes a decision and we have to follow. We worked hard, tried everything and did our best, but it didn’t work.”
As United prepares for a new era under Amorim, the club’s fans will be hopeful that the Portuguese manager can revitalize the team and return them to the top of English football.
