Arigumaho Shines Yet Again As Mbarara City Edge Bright Stars at Kavumba

UPDF FC face Mbarara City at the Bombo Barracks Military Ground today at 4 pm, seeking to bounce back from a heavy defeat to SC Villa and maintain their unbeaten home record in the Uganda Premier League.

Following a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of reigning champions SC Villa, UPDF, led by Paul Kiwanuka, will be eager to regain their home form.

Despite a slow season start, UPDF have been solid at home, boasting two wins and one draw without conceding a single goal.

Their last two home victories against Lugazi and Wakiso Giants, along with a goalless draw with URA, underline their defensive resilience on familiar turf.

UPDF have a strong historical record against Mbarara City, remaining unbeaten in their past seven encounters, with four wins and two draws.

The army side’s last loss to the Ankole Lions dates back to 2017, which adds to their confidence as they aim to reverse their recent misfortune.

Currently, UPDF are 10th on the table, tied at nine points with Mbarara City, who hold a slight edge in 8th place due to a better goal tally.

Mbarara City, coached by Livingstone Mbabazi, come into the game after a 3-1 home loss to Vipers that ended their impressive 16-match unbeaten streak at Kakyeka Ground.

Though without top scorer Seiri Arigumaho, who is suspended, Mbarara City have shown impressive form on the road, securing back-to-back away wins against BUL and Bright Stars.

They will look to key players like Henry Kitegenyi to deliver as they aim to finally break their winless streak at Bombo.
