Jose Mourinho’s fiery temper has landed him in hot water once again. The Portuguese manager was handed a one-match ban and a hefty fine by the Turkish Football Federation following a controversial post-match interview after Fenerbahce’s 3-2 win over Trabzonspor.
Mourinho, known for his passionate outbursts, took aim at the match officials, particularly VAR referee Atilla Karaoglan, accusing them of bias against his team.
His comments were deemed “unsportsmanlike” and “diminishing the value of Turkish football.”
The incident comes amidst rumors linking Mourinho to the Newcastle United manager’s job.
With Eddie Howe’s future at the club uncertain, speculation has intensified about potential replacements, and Mourinho’s name has been thrown into the mix.
Fenerbahce’s vice-president, Acun Ilicali, also faced punishment for his own critical remarks about the officiating.
The club released a statement condemning the “scandalous” refereeing decisions and alleging that VAR had “massacred” the match.
