The Cricket Cranes secured a thrilling 24-run victory over Italy in their latest ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B match.
The match, played at the Entebbe Cricket Oval, was a closely contested affair that went down to the wire.
Uganda, batting first, posted a competitive total of 254/9 in their 50 overs.
Riazat Ali Shah top-scored with 57 runs, while Dinesh Nakrani and Raghav Dhawan contributed valuable knocks.
In reply, Italy got off to a strong start, with openers Emilio Gay and Joe Burns putting on a solid partnership.
However, the Ugandan bowlers, led by Henry Ssenyondo (4/28) and Alpesh Ramjani (5/69), fought back to restrict the Italian run-rate.
Ssenyondo was the standout performer for Uganda, picking up four crucial wickets to derail Italy’s chase.
His all-round performance with both bat and ball earned him the Player of the Match award.
With this victory, Uganda have further consolidated their position at the top of the table.
Uganda will face Bahrain on Saturday 16th November in the final game of the tournament.
