KCCA will be without their in-form goalkeeper, Mutwalib Mugolofa, as the Uganda Premier League resumes following the international break.
Mugolofa, who is the league’s standout goalkeeper this season with six clean sheets in eight matches, is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.
However, KCCA head coach Abdallah Mubiru remains confident in the team’s depth, with Anthony Emojong stepping in as a replacement.
“He’s one of the team’s best players this season, but his replacement is equally good,” Mubiru said during his pre-match comments.
“Emojong is not starting simply because Mugolofa has been performing better this season, but he has all the qualities to step in.
“I have confidence in him, and I believe he will put in a good performance. This competition for positions is essential for a team focused on success,” Mubiru added.
Emojong, who was KCCA’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, lost the starting spot to Mugolofa this campaign. With the goalkeeper’s suspension,
Emojong has an opportunity to reclaim his position, especially in a critical match against NEC FC on Thursday.
KCCA will aim to maintain their unbeaten run and top spot in the UPL standings in this much-anticipated clash.
