The Confederation of African Football has begun its second round of inspection visits to Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya, the three East African countries co-hosting the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The tournament will be held from February 1st to 24th, 2025, featuring teams composed entirely of domestic-based players.
This marks a significant moment for the region as they prepare to showcase their footballing infrastructure and hospitality to the continent.
A CAF delegation, comprised of representatives from various departments, is currently conducting inspections across the three nations from November 22nd to 30th.
They are joined by football and government officials to assess the progress made in preparations and identify areas requiring improvement across all aspects of the competition’s organization, ensuring compliance with CAF regulations.
The inspections will focus on stadiums, hotels, airports, training venues, and other facilities crucial to hosting a world-class tournament, on par with recent CAF competitions.
This follows their initial inspection conducted on September 17th, 2024, which was led by CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe.
The first day of the current inspection concluded with a visit to the Uganda State House.
The CAF delegation presented reports from each functional area to the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sport of Uganda, Hon. Janet Museveni, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee.
Following Uganda, the CAF team will travel to Tanzania for a three-day visit (November 24th-27th) before concluding their inspection tour in Kenya (November 27th-30th).
The inspection team includes representatives from key departments such as Marketing, Communication, Broadcast, Competition, Safety and Security, Medical, and Protocol.
