The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Museveni, has called for unity and teamwork among stakeholders as Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania prepare to co-host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025.
In a tweet following a meeting with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team at the State House in Entebbe Janet Museveni described the event as a milestone for East Africa, emphasizing the region’s historic achievement as the first to co-host the tournament.
“Hosting CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027 is a proud moment for Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Together, we are making history as the first region to co-host this prestigious tournament,” she stated.
She also commended the Local Organizing Committee for their efforts in ensuring Uganda’s readiness, urging them to uphold values of teamwork, communication, and transparency.
“Let us prioritize teamwork, clear communication, and transparency. When we speak, let it be with one voice, united in purpose. This is our chance to inspire. Uganda and East Africa will shine on the continental stage. Together, we will make history,” she added.
The CAF delegation, comprising representatives from key departments including marketing, broadcast, safety, and medical, concluded their inspection in Uganda before heading to Tanzania (November 24-27) and later Kenya (November 27-30).
Their visit was aimed at assessing stadiums, training grounds, accommodation, and other facilities critical for hosting the tournament.
This was the second round of inspections, following an initial visit in September 2024 led by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. The inspections ensure all preparations align with CAF regulations and standards.
CHAN 2025, scheduled to run from February 1-24, 2025, will feature teams composed entirely of domestic-based players.
