UPL Preview: UPDF welcome Police in High Stakes Forces Derby

The Bombo Military Barracks Ground will witness a battle of pride and points as UPDF take on Police in the Derby of Forces, today at 4 pm.

Both sides are tied on 12 points, making this a high-stakes affair with potential movement into the top four on the line.

UPDF, under the guidance of Coach Paul Kiwanuka, are looking to bounce back from a heavy 4-0 defeat to Kitara in their last outing.

Despite the setback, the Army side boasts an impressive home record, with three wins and a draw at Bombo this season.

A victory today would not only boost their morale but also solidify their dominance at home.

However, UPDF’s injury concerns persist, with key players like Andrew Kigozi and Hussein Zzinda sidelined.

Defender Aggrey Kiirya’s return from suspension will offer some relief, but the hosts will need a collective effort to overcome a resilient Police side.

Police on the other hand, under coach Simon Peter Mugerwa, have made a strong start to life back in the top flight.

Sitting in 7th place with a better goal difference, the Cops have shown promise, particularly in their defensive organisation.

Mugerwa emphasized the need for efficiency in front of goal, as Police have scored only seven goals while conceding six in their campaign so far.

The visitors have also been boosted by the return of key players like Brian Obedi and Ivan Eyamu, who are available for selection.

Police’s last outing ended in a goalless draw with Lugazi, and they will be eager to return to winning ways at a venue where they have historically performed well.

With both sides evenly matched and aiming for a top-four spot, this Forces Derby promises to be a thrilling encounter filled with intensity and tactical battles.
