CAF CC: Mukwala’s Journey at Simba Takes a Turn

Uganda Cranes forward Steven Mukwala finally secured a spot in Simba SC’s starting lineup during their CAF Confederation Cup opener against Angola’s Bravos do Maquis.

Mukwala, who joined Simba from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko this season, had previously struggled for regular playing time, often coming off the bench.

At the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Mukwala led Simba’s attack and played 75 minutes before being substituted for Leonel Ateba.

The decisive moment came in the 27th minute when Jean Charles Ahoua converted a penalty to seal Simba’s 1-0 victory.

The result took Simba to the top of Group A, earning three vital points.

Mukwala’s inclusion marked a turning point in his journey with the Tanzanian side, showcasing his potential as a key player moving forward.

Simba will now shift focus back to the Tanzanian Premier League, where they face Singida Black Stars on Sunday, December 1.

The team will then travel to Algeria for their next Confederation Cup group stage game against Constantine on December 8.

With this breakthrough performance, Mukwala aims to solidify his role in the squad, continuing to contribute both domestically and on the continental stage.
