The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has announced that Uganda will host the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship qualifiers from December 8th to 12th, 2024.
Originally scheduled to take place in Eritrea, the tournament was relocated due to unforeseen circumstances.
Six boys’ teams and five girls’ teams will compete for the top spot in their respective categories. The winners will represent the CECAFA Zone at the continental level.
The draw for the boys’ category will be conducted on December 4th, 2024.
The boys’ teams will compete in a group stage format, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals. The girls’ teams will play a league format, and the top team will qualify for the continental stage.
Uganda has a strong track record in this competition, having dominated the previous year’s tournament held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Ugandan boys’ team clinched the title with a penalty shootout victory over Tanzania, while the girls’ team secured the championship with a 2-1 win against Kenya.
