Thomas Tayebwa, Uganda’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament and a staunch Manchester United fan had a day to remember at Old Trafford as he watched his favourite team secure a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League.
This was United’s first league win under new manager Ruben Amorim. Tayebwa attended the match with his family and capped off the experience with a meeting with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Tayebwa shared his excitement about the visit, which coincided with an electric performance by Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee.
Rashford’s brace included a stunning volley from a Bruno Fernandes corner and a quick finish early in the second half, while Zirkzee netted twice, with Amad Diallo playing a pivotal role in both goals.
The win lifted United to ninth in the Premier League table after 13 games, signalling a strong start to the Amorim era.
The Deputy Speaker also highlighted the honour of meeting Sir Alex Ferguson, who is regarded as one of the greatest managers in football history.
Tayebwa back in October extended an invitation to Manchester United, through goalkeeper Andre Onana, to visit Uganda, which hosts one of the English club’s biggest fan bases.
