The MTN-sponsored Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Enganda Football Tournament and Bicycle Races continued to captivate sports enthusiasts in Buliisa District.
The event, which took place on Friday, showcased exceptional talent and generated immense excitement.
A historic moment unfolded as the Abajangi Clan secured their maiden qualification to the second round of the Enganda Football Tournament.
Their impressive performance, marked by a solid defensive display and tactical acumen, earned them four points from three matches.
Key to their success was goalkeeper Victor Okello, who kept two clean sheets and thwarted numerous attacks.
Coach Julius Ayesiga praised his team’s dedication and expressed optimism for the upcoming challenges in Hoima.
The MTN-sponsored bicycle races also drew a large crowd, with hundreds of participants vying for top honors. The event celebrated both talent and fitness, and the top performers were rewarded with cash prizes.
Chief Administrative Officer Alex Katusabe commended MTN for its continued support of sports initiatives in the kingdom.
“We appreciate MTN for supporting sports activities aimed at developing talent and mobilizing our people to engage in income-generating activities,” he said.
The top ten riders from both the men’s and women’s categories have qualified for the grand finals in Hoima City next January.
The next stage will take place on December 6, 2024, at Thomas Moor Secondary School in Kigorobya Town Council, Hoima District.
