Uganda’s Abel Sikowo delivered an impressive performance at the 2024 Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, finishing second in the elite men’s race on December 1.
Sikowo completed the race in 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 12 seconds, just six seconds behind Kenyan winner Geoffrey Yegon, who clocked 2:16:06.
Kenya’s Korir Laban Kipngetich took third place with a time of 2:16:24, rounding off a tightly contested top three.
Sikowo, known for his endurance and consistency, demonstrated remarkable grit in Singapore’s challenging humid conditions.
Despite missing out on the top spot, his performance cemented his status as one of Uganda’s rising marathon stars. The Ugandan runner maintained a relentless pace throughout the race and showcased strong finishing power, battling it out with his Kenyan counterparts until the very end.
The race, which attracted over 55,000 participants from 84 countries, included several elite runners from across the globe.
