Ugandan Swimmers Set for Namibia Challenge

A team of seven swimmers will look to emerge triumphant at the Zone IV Aquatics Championship due 4th – 7th December in Namibia.

Captained by 15-year-old multi-age group national record holder Heer Usadadiya and 17-year-old Deshpande Khyati who both put up stellar performances at last month’s Zone III Championship in Burundi, the focus is on taking on stronger competition in Southern Africa.

Following the triumph in Bujumbura, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president Dr Donald Rukare urged the swimmers to stay disciplined and ensure a spirited performance at the tournament.

“The team is small but impactful and given the Zone IV is quite competitive, we hope the team shines a good spotlight on the country,” he said.

“It’s a development program to help the swimming improve their times and improve the level of Ugandan swimming,” he added.

The other swimmers on the team include; Benjamin Lutaaya, Elijah Mukisa, Joshua Kaganda, Kristian Bwiso and Tara Kisawuzi.
