The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has taken a significant stride towards modernizing the sport in the country with the introduction of a computerized scoring and records tracking system.
The system made its debut at the ongoing National Novices Boxing Championship, held at the National Council of Sports (NCS) arena in Lugogo.
This groundbreaking move marks a departure from traditional manual scoring methods, ushering in an era of enhanced efficiency and transparency in Ugandan boxing.
The computerized system streamlines the scoring process, minimizes human error, and ensures accurate and timely recording of match results.
UBF President Moses Muhangi expressed his enthusiasm for this technological advancement.
“This is a momentous occasion for Ugandan boxing. The introduction of a computerized scoring and tracking system at the novices level is a game-changer. It significantly enhances scoring efficiency and record management, aligning perfectly with our vision to modernize and elevate boxing standards within the country,” he said.
The Novices Championship serves as a crucial testing ground for the new system before its wider implementation across national and regional tournaments.
The system will not only streamline competition management but also play a vital role in tracking the performance of young boxers, fostering talent identification and development.
The UBF believes that this technological advancement will not only attract more participants to the sport but also captivate a wider audience, fostering greater interest and support for Ugandan boxing.
