Ugandan striker Edrisa Lubega has signed a two-year contract with German club SpVgg Osterhofen, marking a new chapter in his career.
The move takes Lubega to his wife’s homeland, Germany, and follows a period of being a free agent since June.
In his first statement about the transfer, Lubega shared his excitement about the opportunity, mentioning the warm welcome he received from the club’s management.
“I am motivated to achieve [their] goals for the future, and I am excited to help the team,” he said, noting that the club’s plans aligned with his own ambitions.
Lubega, who has previously played for clubs in Austria, Portugal, Estonia, and the Czech Republic, was last seen in action with FK Pribram B in the Czech Republic.
Known for his versatility, Lubega has also represented Uganda’s national team, the Cranes, on multiple occasions, including during the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda.
His journey through various European leagues has shaped him into a seasoned professional, with his time in Austria at FAC Vienna and in the Czech Republic at Pribram standing out as particularly memorable.
“The best experience in my professional career was undoubtedly representing my country,” Lubega said, reflecting on his experiences abroad.
SpVgg Osterhofen competes in Germany’s seventh-tier division, offering Lubega a new challenge in an increasingly competitive football environment.
As he settles into this new chapter, his connection to his wife’s family roots adds an emotional layer to his career story.
Lubega’s new venture with Osterhofen is not just a professional move, but also a personal one, bringing him closer to his wife’s family while continuing to pursue his football career in Europe’s vibrant leagues.
