The stage is set for an epic finale as Uganda’s She Cranes and South Africa’s Proteas clash in the 2024 Africa Netball Cup final at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, Namibia, tomorrow, Saturday, December 14.
Both teams, three-time champions, will be battling for a record fourth title.
The semi-finals earlier today provided thrilling netball action. South Africa dominated Zimbabwe in the first semi-final, securing a commanding 63-41 victory.
Coach Vilane Jabulani’s Proteas outclassed their opponents, with a strong first quarter ending 17-13 and a halftime lead of 34-21.
The third quarter saw South Africa extend the margin to 50-32, comfortably sealing the win.
In the second semi-final, Uganda’s She Cranes edged Malawi’s She Flames 51-43 in a tense and tactical encounter.
Malawi started strongly, leading 14-8 in the first quarter, with standout performances from goal-shooter Tendai Masamba and center Lwazi Takondwa.
However, Uganda turned the tide by halftime, leveling the score at 23-all after a critical substitution saw Sandra Nambirige and Mercy Batamuliza bolster their side.
The She Cranes surged ahead in the third quarter, leading 39-32, and maintained their momentum to secure the victory.
This sets up a highly anticipated clash between two of the continent’s best teams, with pride and history on the line.
The final will kick off at 3pm EAT.
