Kawempe Muslim Ladies Football Club will host She Corporate FC on Sunday, December 15, in a highly anticipated clash on matchday 10 of the Finance Trust Women’s Super League.
The league leaders aim to maintain their unbeaten run, while She Corporate is desperate to bounce back after two consecutive losses.
Kawempe Muslim, currently top of the table with 20 points from eight matches, remain unbeaten this season, boasting six wins and two draws.
Their latest victory, a dramatic 1-0 win over Uganda Martyrs, was sealed in the dying minutes by last season’s MVP and top scorer, Agnes Nabukenya.
The forward, who has already netted five goals this season, emphasized the importance of that win in boosting the team’s morale ahead of Sunday’s game.
“Winning against Uganda Martyrs gave us confidence and encouragement to keep going. We know we need more points to win the trophy, and the She Corporate game is a must-win for us,” Nabukenya said.
Despite their dominance, the Valley Queens have struggled to convert chances consistently, scoring just one goal in four of their last six matches.
Assistant coach Moses Nkata acknowledged this concern and highlighted the team’s efforts to improve their finishing.
“We create chances, but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. We’ve been working on sharper finishing to make the most of our opportunities,” Nkata said.
He also noted the significance of home advantage, expressing confidence in his team’s readiness.
“She Corporate is a good team with experienced players, but we’ve prepared well. Playing at home gives us the edge, and we are determined to secure another win,” Nkata added.
For She Corporate, the stakes are equally high. The seventh-placed side has had a turbulent campaign, managing only two wins, four draws, and four losses to accumulate 10 points.
Their recent struggles include a 1-0 loss to Rhines SS on November 30 and a 2-0 defeat to Amus College on December 8.
However, the Sharks’ assistant coach Ronald Kibirango remains optimistic about his team’s chances of halting their losing streak.
“The girls have a positive attitude going into this game. We won’t allow ourselves to lose three matches in a row,” Kibirango stated.
With most of his players now on holiday and available for training, Kibirango believes the team is now better prepared.
“We’ve focused on fitness and worked intensively in training. This time, we have no excuses because the entire squad is available. Expect a good performance and a win against Kawempe,” he asserted.
She Corporate goalkeeper Naava Molly echoed her coach’s sentiments, emphasizing the team’s determination to keep a clean sheet and secure three points.
“We’ve trained hard and corrected our mistakes. I’m ready to keep a clean sheet, and as a team, we are prepared to give our best,” Naava said.
Vice captain Arinda Anitah also expressed confidence in the team’s readiness.
“We’ve revised our mistakes, and we’re ready for this game. We hope for the best and are focused on taking three points,” Arinda said.
As the league leaders, Kawempe will be looking to widen the gap against their closest challengers, Kampala Queens, who currently sit second.
A win on Sunday would not only keep Kawempe’s unbeaten streak alive but also reinforce their bid to defend their league title.
On the other hand, She Corporate must dig deep to overcome their current slump. The clash promises to be a battle of determination and strategy as both teams fight for critical points.
