Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund acknowledged that the team requires more time to fully grasp the tactical nuances of newly appointed manager Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
The Danish forward, who has already netted five goals in six Europa League appearances this season, emphasized the need for consistent training and match experience to perfect the new formation.
“We need more time. It’s very early days,” Hojlund told TNT Sports. “It’s about getting the routines together and I think it’s getting under the skin, but obviously it needs a lot of practice and a lot of time. We don’t have a lot of sessions, so we have to train it during the matches. I know it sounds a bit odd, but it’s how you learn the best.”
Despite the early challenges, Hojlund played a crucial role in United’s 2-1 comeback victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
“It was a bit difficult. Very cold today, difficult circumstances, the pitch was a bit boggy. We had to deal with it and we solved it in the second half,” Hojlund added.
United, currently 13th in the Premier League, face a stern test this Sunday as they travel to face defending champions Manchester City.
