The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, is set to visit Uganda on Friday, December 20, as part of his tour of the three host nations for the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Uganda, alongside Tanzania and Kenya, will co-host the prestigious tournament next year.
Dr. Motsepe’s visit to Kampala marks the final leg of his three-nation tour, which begins in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Thursday, December 19, and continues in Nairobi, Kenya, earlier on Friday.
While in Uganda, the CAF President is expected to meet with government officials, football leaders, and members of the Local Organising Committee to assess preparations for the tournament.
His agenda includes visits to key facilities such as stadiums and training grounds undergoing renovations to meet CAF standards ahead of CHAN 2024.
The visit follows a recent inspection by a CAF delegation in November, which evaluated Uganda’s readiness, focusing on infrastructure such as stadiums, training sites, hotels, and airports.
Uganda’s preparations for CHAN 2024 are critical as the nation seeks to ensure a smooth and successful hosting of the tournament, which will feature top local-based players from across Africa.
The CAF President’s schedule for Friday includes morning engagements in Nairobi before traveling to Kampala in the afternoon to conclude his tour.
