Wankulukuku Undergoing a Facelift for CHAN 2024—What Does This Mean for SC Villa?

Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, is one of the four designated training grounds for the delayed 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Renovation works are now underway to upgrade the facility.

This development poses a significant challenge for SC Villa, who have been using Wankulukuku as their home ground.

According to sources, the club was aware of the impending renovations but wasn’t given prior notice of when the work would begin.

Despite this, Villa appreciates the upgrades and has announced a meeting on Friday to discuss alternatives and solutions.

It’s worth noting that Villa had shifted to Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, earlier this season before deciding to return to Wankulukuku.

Their home form has been solid, with five games played, two wins, and three draws, earning them nine points.

Only NEC boasts a better home record this season with 13 points.

Villa’s next game is a home fixture against URA on January 4th, 2025.

With Wankulukuku undergoing renovations, the question remains—where will Villa host this crucial match?

The CHAN 2024 tournament is set to run from February 1st to 28th, 2025, hosted across Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya.
