Uganda’s Boni Consilli Girls Vocational Team will represent the nation at the inaugural CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT), scheduled to take place from January 7-18, 2025, at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
This groundbreaking competition, organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is aimed at advancing women’s football across Africa.
The tournament brings together eight teams from the CECAFA region, offering a unique opportunity to showcase young female talent while promoting gender equality in football.
Boni Consilli Girls Vocational Team will go against top clubs from the region. These include the host nation Tanzania, with its JKT Queens and TDS Girls Academy, as well as Kenya’s Kenya Academy of Sports, Aigle Noir FC from Burundi, Bahir Dar Kenema FC from Ethiopia, South Sudan’s City Lights Football Academy, and Hilaad FC from Somalia.
CAF’s broader strategy includes fostering pathways for young players, encouraging national associations to invest in girls’ football, and increasing participation at all levels.
For Ugandan players, this tournament serves as a platform to gain exposure, hone their skills, and transition from grassroots to competitive football structures.
In addition to the matches, the event will host a CAF D-License coaching course and media workshops, providing learning opportunities for coaches and media professionals from Uganda and the region.
Community initiatives, such as a girls’ football festival and health awareness campaigns, will complement the competition, leaving a lasting impact in Tanzania.
