With Uganda set to host the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) and the 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON), the focus remains on infrastructure development in a bid to develop the game.
Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo highlighted key focus areas during his New Year’s address held today in Mengo with infrastructure development and capacity building crucial for sustainable development of the game.
“We dream big, and as FUFA, we sold our dream to fellow East African nations, and CAF granted us rights to host the 2027 AFCON along with 2025 CHAN. This is the greatest opportunity to celebrate football and sell our country to the rest of the world,”
“Those in hospitality, tourism, entertainment and the other sectors, we call upon you to join hands,” Magogo noted.
Magogo, who was joined by executive committee members, says the government is committed to improving stadiums.
“Because of CHAN and AFCON, the government is already investing heavily in the sports sector. These facilities will help with hosting our local competitions,” he said.
With FUFA set for elections this year, Magogo is confident the process will be conducted smoothly.
“At FUFA, governance is key 2025 is a year of elections at FUFA and we will organize free and fair elections. The committee has been put in place so apply for the available vacant seats,” he said.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations is mandated to oversee the development of football across the country.
