Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho played a pivotal role in Young Africans’ 3-1 comeback win against TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Saturday.
The visitors took an early lead in the 16th minute, with goalkeeper Alioune Faty converting from the penalty spot.
However, Cement Mzize equalized for Yanga in the 33rd minute off Chadrack Boka’s assist, ensuring the teams went into halftime level at 1-1.
In the second half, Aucho set up Stephane Aziz Ki, who put Yanga ahead in the 56th minute.
Mzize then sealed the victory with his second goal of the match in the 60th minute, assisted by Prince Dube, marking Yanga’s first Champions League win of the campaign.
Aucho was substituted in the 75th minute for Duke Abuya, with Yanga now sitting third in Group A with four points from four games.
TP Mazembe, winless and at the bottom of the group with two points, will face MC Alger in Algeria on January 10, while Yanga travels to Mauritania to face Al-Hilal Omdurman on January 12.
The first leg between Yanga and Mazembe in December had ended in a 1-1 draw.
