Kitara continued their impressive home form, edging out defending champions SC Villa 1-0 in an end to end encounter at the Royals Park in Butema.
The solitary goal, scored by substitute Marvin Nyanzi in the second minute of added time, proved to be the difference-maker in a tightly contested match.
The goal, assisted by fellow substitute Roberts Mugisha, capped off a strong second-half performance from Kitara.
Nyanzi, who replaced striker Denis Omedi at halftime, made a decisive impact, showcasing the strength of Kitara’s bench.
SC Villa, despite a valiant effort, were unable to break down the resolute Kitara defense. The visitors suffered a setback when goalkeeper Meddy Kibirige was forced to withdraw from the match at the hour mark due to injury.
The victory propels Kitara above SC Villa in the league standings. The Royals now occupy seventh place with 21 points, while Villa drop to eighth with 20 points after 15 games.
Kitara have not conceded in their last four home games securing wins over UPDF, Mbale Heroes, Express, and SC Villa.
Villa have won just one of their last six Uganda Premier League encounters.
