UPL: Mbalangu Reflects on Season So Far

NEC Football Club has emerged as a formidable force in the Uganda Premier League, concluding the first half of the 2024/2025 season in the second-place.

With 33 points from 15 games, just one point shy of leaders Vipers, the club has showcased impressive form, fueled by a combination of hard work and a well-defined strategy.

Head Coach Hussien Mbalangu attributed the team’s success to “hard work, patience, and unwavering support from the management.”

NEC boasts an impressive record of 10 wins, 3 draws, and only 2 losses, a testament to their consistent performance throughout the first half of the season.

Despite their impressive run, Coach Mbalangu remains grounded.

“This is just the beginning,” he emphasized. “We are not resting on our laurels. The mid-season break will be an ‘active break’ to refine our strategies and prepare for the challenges ahead.”

Addressing potential new signings during the January transfer window, Mbalangu reassured fans that the club is content with its current squad.

“Our focus remains on improving our performance and achieving our ultimate goals,” he stated.

The Uganda Premier League has witnessed an action packed first half, with Vipers narrowly leading the pack.

The competition, however, is fierce, with KCCA, Express, and URA also vying for the top spot.

The second half of the season promises to be even more intense, with teams battling for the title and others facing the pressure of relegation battles.
