The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team, the “Teen Cranes,” delivered a breathtaking performance in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2025 qualifiers, crushing Namibia 10-0 at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.
The match began with a vibrant atmosphere, as the Namibian team entered the stadium singing traditional victory songs.
However, their optimism quickly dissipated as the Teen Cranes scored a crucial goal just six minutes into the game, setting the stage for a dominant display.
Agnes Nabukenya emerged as the star of the show, producing a remarkable six-goal haul that left the Namibian defence in disarray.
Her clinical finishing and exceptional movement proved too much for the visitors to handle.
Rinah Ariho added two more goals to the tally, further emphasizing Uganda’s superiority. By halftime, the Teen Cranes had already established an insurmountable 6-0 lead.
The second half witnessed the Teen Cranes continue their relentless assault. Despite yellow cards for Nabukenya and Dorine Aujat, the team remained undeterred.
Substitutes Winfried Isabella Blick Kabarozi and Joan Kizza Namulindwa capped off the scoring to take the tally to 10 goals.
This decisive victory provides Uganda with a massive advantage heading into the second leg on January 19, 2025.
The aggregate winner of the two-legged tie will then face Kenya in the next round of qualifiers.
