Crested Cranes Star Phiona Nabbumba Signs for Danish Side FC Midtjylland

Phiona Nabbumba, a key player for Uganda’s national women’s football team, the Crested Cranes, has signed a contract with Danish club FC Midtjylland Women’s Football.

The 24-year-old midfielder makes the move from Gjensidige Kvindeliga side B93, where she has been a standout performer.

FC Midtjylland Women’s Head Coach Anders Madsen expressed his excitement about the signing, noting Nabbumba’s international experience and playing style as valuable additions to the team.

“Phiona embodies the qualities we value at FC Midtjylland. She is determined, aggressive, and excellent in her positioning and duels. Her experience in the Gjensidige Kvindeliga and with Uganda’s national team will significantly strengthen our squad,” Madsen said.

Nabbumba, who plays in central midfield, is eager to contribute to the club’s ambitions of competing at the top of Danish football and securing promotion this season.

“My time in the league has taught me the importance of teamwork, tactical adaptability, and perseverance. I look forward to bringing these attributes to FC Midtjylland and helping the team succeed,” Nabbumba remarked.

She also expressed her long-term aspirations in football, stating, “My goal is to become one of the best players in the world. I strive to improve, learn from my experiences, and push myself to new heights. I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to see where this journey takes me.”

Nabbumba’s career has seen her excel at clubs such as Ajax Queens Uganda and She Corporate FC before joining Denmark’s B93.

FC Midtjylland aims to leverage Nabbumba’s skills to enhance their competitiveness as they gear up for a crucial promotion campaign.

The club has set its sights on building a team capable of dominating Danish football, and Nabbumba’s addition marks a significant step toward achieving that vision.
