Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has encouraged star winger Bukayo Saka to take a well-deserved holiday while recovering from a hamstring injury.
Saka sustained the injury during the Gunners’ 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on December 21st and is expected to be sidelined until late February or even March.
“He needs to (go on holiday),” Arteta emphasized ahead of Arsenal’s match against Aston Villa. “He is obligated to go. With his girlfriend or his family, he can choose. Or on his own. But he needs to get away for a few days and refresh.”
Saka has been an integral part of Arsenal’s success in recent seasons, rarely missing a game. However, Arteta believes this enforced break presents a valuable opportunity for the young Englishman to recharge.
“He has been every single day there (with the club),” Arteta added. “There is a moment, especially when we are going to be away for a few days, that he needs to do that. That is very important for him as well. We need to look after our players.”
The enforced absence of Saka has undoubtedly been a blow to Arsenal’s recent form. While they have secured three wins in their last six matches, they have also suffered two draws and a loss.
Saka’s recovery is crucial for Arsenal’s title aspirations. The team will be hoping to welcome him back to the fold as soon as possible.
