Brentford have rejected a £20 million bid from Nottingham Forest for in-demand striker Yoane Wissa.
Forest, who are currently third in the Premier League, identified Wissa as a key target to bolster their attacking options this January transfer window.
However, their initial offer fell significantly short of Brentford’s valuation for the Congolese forward.
Wissa has been a standout performer for Thomas Frank’s side this season, contributing 11 goals in 19 Premier League appearances.
The 28-year-old’s current contract extends until the summer of 2026, with an option for an additional year.
Forest’s interest in Wissa stems from potential uncertainty surrounding the future of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who has attracted interest from West Ham United.
Meanwhile, Brentford are exploring the possibility of signing Fiorentina right-back Michael Kayode. The 20-year-old Italian youth international is highly regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Serie A.
This move comes as Brentford grapple with injuries in the full-back position, most notably the long-term absence of Scottish international Aaron Hickey due to a hamstring injury.
Hickey, who recently signed a contract extension with the club, is nearing a return to first-team training.
