Man Utd Legends Face Pay Cuts as Ratcliffe Continues Cost-Cutting Drive

Manchester United legends Bryan Robson, Andy Cole, and Denis Irwin are facing significant pay cuts as part of owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ongoing cost-cutting measures at Old Trafford.

The trio, who serve as club ambassadors, will see their retainers reduced from next season. This move follows a wider review of expenses aimed at reducing losses and improving the club’s financial health.

“United have posted hundreds of millions in losses in recent seasons, and these reductions are crucial to turning the business around,” a club source revealed to Daily Mail.

This cost-cutting initiative has impacted various departments. Earlier reports indicated that the club would lay off 250 staff members and potentially cut funding for the disabled supporters’ association.

The review also extends to matchday “legends,” including former players like Gary Pallister, who can earn between £500 and £1,000 per game.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS acquired a majority stake in Manchester United last year and have since undertaken a comprehensive review of the club’s finances.
