Former Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals captain, Shadia Nankya, has shown her continued support for her alma mater by gifting six footballs to the club.
Nankya, who currently plays for Egyptian side FC Masar, has been a standout performer, particularly in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Her impressive displays earned her the Player of the Match award after her team defeated title favorites Mamelodi Sundowns.
The talented defender joined UCU from Uganda Martyrs High School in 2019 and quickly established herself as a key player.
Following the departure of former captain Hasifah Nassuna, Nankya assumed the captaincy and led the team with distinction.
In August 2024, Nankya embarked on a new chapter in her career, signing with FC Masar in the Egyptian Women’s Premier League.
The UCU Lady Cardinals expressed deep gratitude to former captain Shadia Nankya for her generous donation to the club.
In a tweet, they wrote: “Once a Cardinal, Always a Cardinal! A big thank you to our former captain, Shadia Nankya, now shining at FC Masar, for donating 6 footballs to her former club, the UCU Lady Cardinals. Your love & support means the world to us, Shadia! Your legacy continues to inspire the team.”
UCU are competing in the FUFA Women Elite League and are currently second in the Elizabeth Group with 9 points from 4 games.
