Cricket Cranes Confident Ahead of Hong Kong Challenge

The Cricket Cranes are primed for the second round of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B in Hong Kong, scheduled to begin on February 4th.

Head coach Abhay Sharma has expressed optimism about the team’s preparation and readiness for the tournament.

“We are looking forward to the tournament. The boys are training hard, and everything is coming along nicely,” said Sharma.

With the team currently leading the six-team standings, the upcoming matches will be crucial in maintaining their two-point lead over closest rivals Italy and Hong Kong.

Sharma acknowledged the challenges posed by unfamiliar conditions in Hong Kong but emphasized the team’s efforts to adapt.

“The conditions in Hong Kong will be different, so we are trying to create that kind of scenario for our players during training. The boys are in very good shape. Skill wise, bowling wise, and batting wise, things are looking good,” he said.

Batting consultant Craig Williams, who has been working closely with the team, echoed Sharma’s confidence in their preparation.

“For the past three weeks, the boys have been putting in the hard work. They are training well. I am impressed with the progress so far,” he said.

The squad, captained by all-rounder Riazat Ali Shah, features a mix of experienced players and promising young talent.

Shah highlighted the importance of nurturing the next generation.

“We have some young boys in the team. We want to give them the best training possible because they are an asset for our future,” he said.

With key players such as Henry Ssenyondo and Alpesh Ramjani expected to excel on Hong Kong’s slower pitches, and veterans like Frank Nsubuga providing experience, the Cricket Cranes are poised to continue their strong campaign.

The team begins their fixtures on February 7th against Bahrain, followed by matches against Singapore, Italy, Hong Kong, and Tanzania.
