The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has appointed renowned former referee Mashood Ssali as their new Referees’ Development Manager.
Effective February 1st, 2025, Ssali will spearhead the development and operational aspects of refereeing within the FUFA Technical Master Plan.
Ssali boasts a distinguished 24-year career as a referee, including a decade as a FIFA-listed official. In his new role, he will work closely with the FUFA Referees Standing Committee to enhance refereeing standards across all levels of Ugandan football, from grassroots to elite competitions.
“I am deeply honored to contribute to the development of refereeing in Uganda,” said Ssali. “The FUFA President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, has consistently emphasized the importance of providing meaningful post-football careers for retired players, and this appointment aligns perfectly with that vision. While this is a significant responsibility, I am confident that through teamwork and dedication, we can achieve remarkable results.”
Ssali, who holds a Master’s degree in Marketing, recently retired from active refereeing on January 6th, 2025. He succeeds Egesa Samuel, who served as the Referees’ Development Manager since 2010.
