Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has emphatically denied reports that forward Matheus Cunha could be sold in the January transfer window, despite links to Arsenal.
Cunha has been the subject of speculation following a recent public criticism from Pereira regarding his body language during a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
However, the Portuguese manager clarified that the issue has been addressed, and Cunha remains committed to the club.
“I have had a conversation with him and he is very committed to us,” Pereira stated. “He never asked me to leave the club. He wants to help the team, be with us, to be with us tomorrow to try and win the game.”
He further emphasized that Cunha is not for sale: “He’s my player, he’s not for sale, this is information from the club.”
Wolves are currently facing a challenging period, having lost three consecutive matches.
They now prepare to host Arsenal, a team that has shown impressive strength from set-pieces, a weakness Pereira acknowledges his side needs to address.
“Tomorrow is a chance to compete, to win the game,” Pereira said. “I like to see courage as a person and as a player. This is the team I want to see tomorrow, a team that really believe they can win the game.”
