Youngman Returns to Vipers

Vipers Sports Club have announced the re-signing of midfielder Marvin Joseph Youngman on a two-year contract, securing his services until January 2027.

The 26-year-old returns to St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, after a spell with Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

Youngman’s move marks a homecoming, having previously enjoyed a successful stint with the six-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions.

He played a key role in Vipers’ impressive 2022/2023 season, contributing to their league and Uganda Cup double under coach Alex Isabirye.

During that period, he made 20 league appearances and was instrumental in the team’s historic run to the CAF Champions League group stages.

The midfielder’s return was orchestrated by the recommendation of Vipers’ co-coaches, John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza, highlighting the club’s confidence in his abilities.

Interestingly, Youngman’s career has seen him move between Vipers and Soltilo Bright Stars twice, adding a unique cyclical element to his career.

Youngman emphasized the positive impact his previous time at Vipers had on his career, both on and off the field.

“My two years at Vipers Sports Club were a time of pure contentment for me, both on and off the pitch,” he stated. “I grew as a person and a player, developed a special relationship with the Vipers fans and enjoyed amazing success. It was an exceptional period in my life. To have the opportunity to return here means so much.”

Despite his fond memories, Youngman remains focused on the future.

“I don’t want it to sound too nostalgic to be honest, because it’s still about competing. It’s still about having that drive. It’s still about trying to be the best version of yourself and that’s all an ambition that I still have, incredibly in myself,” he explained.

He stressed his desire to continue proving himself, highlighting his winning mentality and the unique environment at Vipers.

“I still want to prove myself every day in training sessions and games and still become the best possible version of myself. I still have an incredible sense for winning, for competing and I think the package that you get here, right now today, you can’t find it anywhere else, and that made it for me very, very easy to come back.”

Youngman’s journey to professional football includes stints with Bulemeezi Ssaza, Busujju Ssaza, and lower-tier side Hima FC.
