The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has assured that host schools for this year’s national championships are fully prepared, following the conclusion of the Kampala Zone qualifiers.
Presiding over the closing ceremony, USSSA President Justus Mugisha expressed confidence in the organisation and readiness of the designated venues, noting that all selected schools had met the required standards.
He emphasised that the association was satisfied with the progress made to guarantee a smooth and successful national competition.
On the pitch, Lubiri Secondary School clinched the boys’ football crown after edging Kibuli Secondary School 5-4 in a tense penalty shootout. The final had ended goalless in normal time, but Lubiri held their nerve to secure victory.
They will represent Kampala Zone at the nationals alongside Kibuli, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Kazo Secondary School and Uganda Martyrs Secondary School.
In the girls’ category, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School emerged champions with a 2-1 win over Uganda Martyrs Secondary School in an entertaining final. Kawempe Muslim will be joined by Uganda Martyrs and Gadaffi Integrated School as Kampala Zone’s representatives at the national stage.
With the qualifiers now complete, attention turns to the national championships, where top school teams from across Uganda will battle for glory in what promises to be a thrilling season.
