Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford appears to be on the cusp of a loan move to Aston Villa.

The England international has been seeking an exit from Old Trafford throughout the January transfer window, and a deal now seems imminent.

Rashford’s desire to leave Manchester United became clear after he was omitted from the squad that faced and defeated Manchester City.

In a subsequent bombshell interview, he expressed his readiness for a fresh challenge.

However, finding a suitable club proved more challenging than anticipated, with both AC Milan and Barcelona withdrawing their interest despite initial links.

Aston Villa has now emerged as a lifeline for the 27-year-old. With Jhon Duran’s recent high-profile transfer to Al-Nassr, Villa are looking to bolster their squad, and Rashford fits the bill.

According to sources, a loan deal for the remainder of the season is progressing, with both clubs working diligently to finalize the transfer before Monday’s 11 pm deadline.

A key factor in Rashford’s potential move to Villa Park is the opportunity to play in the Champions League knockout stages. Villa secured their place in the last 16, offering Rashford a platform he hasn’t had at United recently.

He has been conspicuously absent from United’s matchday squads for the majority of their last 12 games.

The driving force behind Villa’s pursuit of Rashford is their manager, Unai Emery. Reports suggest that Emery is a keen admirer of Rashford’s talent and believes he can help the forward rediscover his top form.

Emery’s personal request for the club to pursue Rashford underscores the manager’s belief in the player’s potential.

Villa currently sit eighth in the Premier League and are preparing for a trip to Wolves this weekend.

Prior to the Rashford developments, Emery hinted at Villa’s activity in the final days of the transfer window.

He acknowledged the unusual circumstances of the window but expressed his confidence in the squad while also confirming the club’s intention to add players.

Emery emphasized his satisfaction with the team’s performance despite recent player departures and highlighted the emergence of young players like Lamare Bogarde.

While Emery stated his confidence in the existing squad’s ability to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League, he also made it clear that the club was aiming to bring in players with the capacity and skill to improve the team.
